Lessons are after school or on weekend mornings; each lesson lasting 1 hour.
There are never more than 7 in a class and quite often the group is smaller than that.

Each child is given their own work program tailored to their particular needs.
They each get ample individual teacher time.
As an experienced teacher I am able to make sure I am available when a child needs me so that they are not left without help.
Payment is between £20 and £25 a lesson depending on age.

Ring me for half an hour informal assessment (£20) at a time to suit you.
This is a chance for us to meet each other and for you to ask any questions.
I will be able to show you references, testimonials and an up to date CRB (criminal record bureau) certificate.
I will also be able to get an idea of your child's level and difficulties and where we need to concentrate.
If you are concerned about your child's progress at school, DON'T DELAY,
the sooner we get started the less likely problems will persist.

Children work better in small groups rather than being taught just on their own with a teacher.
If a child is struggling at school, either with their work, or the behaviour of others,
a small friendly group of children in a relaxed homely setting can be just the right environment for a new leaf to be turned.
Many children find the thought of sitting with a teacher for a whole hour on their own quite intimidating.
Each week your child will meet familiar, friendly faces.
Sometimes, if two children are studying at a similar level I will suggest they work together for a while.
Children often love doing this. It can develop oral skills and encourage cooperation with others.
Shy children can benefit from this interaction.
For children who are used to working in fairly noisy classrooms and who find it difficult to concentrate or sit still for long it can be very beneficial to see other children,
either their own age or older getting down to work in a relaxed, happy way.
